About W1PEI started in HAM Radio in 1958 as a Novice in Bangor, Maine, with the help of my Elmer, W1FNL, now a SK, a whole lot of other great hams, and the Bangor Civil Defense group. I spent so much time on 2-meter AM with a Gonset Gooney box that I lost my ticket for six months and was late becoming a General. I upgraded to Advanced in 1993 and Extra in 1995. I have held several call signs, but K1JNN and W1PE are the ones I have held the longest. In the North Texas Group I am known by all as the HORSE TRADER. If you need a rig, ask Bob. You better have the money to buy it because you will own it. I am not one to keep gear around. This is really the longest I have ever had gear. As an amateur radio operator, I have always loved the AM mode, and I am trying to achieve the best AM audio. I am running a DX-100B transmitter along with an SX101 MARK II. I have now added a Globe King 500A to the station along with an SX42 with the original REPRODUCER speaker. Built in 1938, it sounds better then a lot of BOSE radios. Also added is a like-mint 75A2 receiver. Processing gear is a BEHRINGER 8024, 24-bit professional box along with a Ribbon mic and a Heil PR-40. |
